The Serra de Collserola Natural Park is a protected area of high natural, heritage and landscape value. The biogeographic situation and the conservation of a mosaic of diverse natural environments favor the presence of an important biodiversity. At the same time, and the result of more than two thousand years of human activity, it also hosts a rich and valuable cultural heritage. Within its limits, it includes 8,170 Ha of protected natural space that are part of the Parks Network of the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya Network of Natural Spaces, being a key part of the Protected Natural Areas system. The Consortium is a public entity of an associative nature and of an institutional and local nature whose objective is the management and development of the Special Planning and Protection Plan for the Natural Environment of the Collserola Park. It is made up of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, the Provincial Council of Barcelona, the Generalitat of Catalonia and the nine municipalities with territory in the Park: El Papiol, Molins de Rei, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Sant Just Desvern, Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona, Montcada and Reixac, Cerdanyola del Vallès and Sant Cugat del Vallès. Its mission is to guarantee the values of the natural area of Collserola as a vital territory in the metropolitan dynamic. Its vision is to be a catalyst and benchmark for a metropolitan territorial model based on the consolidation of a protected natural space in which, in its sustainable management, new forms of governance and organization are applied.
