This large specimen of the Norfolk Araucaria is endemic to a small Australian island. Although it is a tree often planted in private gardens, it is not a very common tree in Barcelona, let alone a specimen like this, 25 meters high.
This tree, originally planted many years ago on a private estate, was ceded by the owner to the City Council and moved to its new location in 2012.
Although it is not easy for an old tree to adapt to such a traumatic operation, thanks to a special technique of transplanting very large trees, this case it had a happy ending for him and for the residents of Barcelona, which we can continue to admire its port.
