The Gran Teatre del Liceu, created in 1847 on the Ramblas in Barcelona, is an opera house that has maintained its function as a cultural and artistic center over the years. One of the symbols of the city.

It is currently a publicly owned theatre (Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Council, Barcelona Provincial Council, Ministry of Culture and Sports), administered by the Gran Teatre del Liceu Foundation, which incorporates, in addition to the aforementioned institutions, the Patronage Council and the Gran Teatre del Liceu Society.

This organization adheres to the Barcelona Biosphere commitment to Tourism Sustainability.
