The project of urban gardens cultivated by people with disabilities on the roofs of public buildings in Barcelona, including the headquarters of the Sants-Montjuïc District, incorporates a new plantation in the same neighborhood of Hostafrancs: the Francesc Macià School. In this case it is a vertical garden with capacity for 560 plants and space for the sprouts and the seedling of these vegetables. The modules are accessible to both children and people in wheelchairs.
The work methodology is the same as in the other orchards in this network, but in this case there will also be joint work with boys and girls from the same school. In this way, the care and cultivation will be done jointly between the students of 4th Primary and the people using the services of the Sant Pere Claver Health Foundation at least one day a week. The food taken out will be destined for both the school canteen and the Tres Pins residence hall.
The new urban garden on the roof of the Francesc Macià School is a community project in which, in addition to the school and its AMPA, the Sant Pere Claver Health Foundation, the Sants-Montjuïc District and the municipal education institutes and of People with Disabilities, also participates the Secretariat of Entities of Sants, Hostafrancs and the Bordeta and the project Link to Educate promoted from the Social Services of the district. The Groots company has been responsible for the creation and design of the structures that support the vertical garden.
