Group of 10 buildings of the same property. Two of the decks were submitted for competition and one was chosen, but the idea is to make all 10.
Being a class two protected building means that there are restrictions on what can and cannot be done. The original pavement has been polished and a layer of EPDM has been placed on it, a geotextile, a blanket, a geotextile and on a substrate formed by crushed toxanes mixed with an organic substrate. The relief is very irregular throughout the terrace. Taking advantage of this reality, the substrate is arranged with variable depths and with two irrigation systems at different depths. The irrigation system consists of a pipe with holes made by abrasion of the material, which creates a hole surrounded by a membrane, where the thickness is very thin. When the water comes out, it vibrates the membrane outwards. This movement expels any roots that may penetrate.
The planting includes many herbaceous species (mostly native) and shrubs in pots, although there are also some directly in the substrate such as a set of tamarius. Insect hotels, nest boxes and ponds have been installed.
Living space has been defined with an integrated work bench and wooden wall to delimit machinery areas. The path forms a perimeter ring. It has recreation areas, drying racks, solariums and urban gardens, which will be accessible to the entire community of residents: the 11 homes in this building and those on the rest of the island.
It incorporates rainwater collection, electricity generation with photovoltaic panels on the gutters and a composting area from the remains of pruning vegetation for the self-supply of the green roof itself.
