Ecologistes en Acció de Catalunya is a network of Catalan groups, legally constituted as a federation, that works for the defense of the environment and towards sustainability in a broad sense, and that shares the principles, program and operating system of the state confederation “Ecologistas en Acción”. It is part of the so-called social ecologism, which understands that environmental problems have their origin in an increasingly globalized model of production and consumption, from which other social problems also derive. This model of development supported by the capitalist system establishes its foundations on the assumption of a planet with unlimited resources, on economic growth and an equally unlimited exercise of power, without borders and in the hands of a few. This is the model that must be transformed if we want to avoid this ecological crisis that affects human beings unequally, causing its most negative consequences to fall precisely on those who are least responsible for its origin. Ecologists in Action defends the formalization and construction of a new economy based on ecological economics and feminist economics, ending the obsession with unlimited growth.
