Desos is an organization committed to the defense of Human Rights focused on the promotion of the right to food and food sovereignty. We work to build a more just and sustainable world through cooperation, community work, Education for Global Justice, as well as awareness-raising, research and dissemination actions.
EDUCATION AREA:
We contribute to the promotion of processes and spaces that promote local social transformation and promote a new culture of the right to food and food sovereignty.
Education allows us to implement innovative methodologies, such as Service Learning, as well as others focused on Global Justice, in both primary and secondary schools, in addition to providing training to teachers. These initiatives promote alliances that encourage sustainable production and responsible consumption within educational communities and the community network of Barcelona and the Metropolitan Area.
We combine classroom sessions with outings to the Agricultural Park and the neighborhood, where students get to know farming and other local agents firsthand. These proposals allow us to work on real needs in the environment, strengthening students' skills while transforming their immediate environment.
COMMUNITY ACTION AREA
We encourage the creation of processes and spaces that strengthen the community fabric in Sant Boi and promote social transformation based on feminism, anti-racism and agroecology.
Through the community gardens of Can Pinyol, we promote a new culture of connection with the land, diversity and respect for the planet, placing human and ecological relationships at the center.
Agroecology inspires us to implement participatory methodologies that combine experiential experiences, such as caring for the land and harvesting, with spaces for collective reflection. These practices contribute to rebuilding the bonds of women and dissident identities with nature, generating trust, well-being and a deep sense of collectivity.
At Can Pinyol, participants discover how the connection with roots, leaves and fruits can transform their environment and their lives, while acquiring tools to promote a more just and sustainable society.
COOPERATION AREA
We promote cooperation projects that defend Human Rights, with special attention to the right to a dignified life of Nicaraguan peasants and indigenous communities exiled in northern Costa Rica.
We work to guarantee access to and control over economic resources that allow people to cultivate the land, improving agricultural productivity and promoting entrepreneurial initiatives. We do this by proposing specific training in agroecology, human rights and feminism so that people become autonomous and protagonists of change.
Our projects are a commitment to social justice and food sovereignty, connecting local production with responsible consumption and promoting the creation of collective networks that contribute to the well-being and autonomy of rural communities.
