CDMA is a documentation center specializing in environmental issues depends on the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
Began operating in 1991, when he created the Department of the Environment, which was so far depended Directorate General of Department of Public Works.
Since its inception in late 1997, was restricted to internal staff of the Department of Environment and by prior arrangement, for public use.
In early 1997 began a process of change, with the aim of strengthening external public service, given that the environment is a topic of growing interest to society. This process led to personnel changes, changes in local, and increase technological resources, among others.
In 1998 he joined the catalog of CDMA CCUC (Collective Catalog of the Universities of Catalonia) and since 2002 is integrated in the catalog BEG (Specialized Libraries of Catalonia).
The CDMA part of the documentation center network of natural areas. Also integrated in the Network of Centers for Environmental Information and Documentation (recid) national network founded in 2002 that promotes coordination and collaboration between centers of environmental documentation.
In December 2006 signed a collaboration agreement with the University of Barcelona to establish synergies in the areas of knowledge between the CDMA and the Faculty of Biology. The result of this convention center is located on the ground Newspaper Library of Biology and expanding its technical staff and hours of operation.
Now part of the Library Network of the Department of Territory and Sustainability.
