On April 6, 2019, the first part of the new Glòries park was opened to the public, with 20,400m ² of green space. It is the new green lung of the city, occupying part of the space that was once entirely dedicated to road traffic. Now, this area is dominated by the Gran Clariana, a large 1.1 hectare grassy esplanade that will allow you to enjoy the green in the middle of the city.

Parc de les Glòries is a space designed to promote biodiversity, and it has certain peculiarities that make it different from other parks in Barcelona. In this first phase, citizens can find:

La Gran Clariana : A hectare of grass that invites you to enjoy nature and relax is a multipurpose, open space for citizens to stay. Due to grass roots, this area will remain closed for a few more weeks.

Biodiversity nodes : They are small refuges of nature. These spaces reproduce the habitats of a Mediterranean forest on a small scale and are specially designed to endow the park with great biodiversity, both in terms of plant and animal species. In this first area of the park you can find three nodes of biodiversity.

Rain gardens : The park is surrounded by flower beds and areas with trees and shrubs. Among them you can find several rain gardens, with grasses, vivacious plants and shrubs that, in addition to giving the park an attractive look, collect rainwater and slowly infiltrate it into the subsoil constituting what is called an Urban Site of Sustainable Drainage (SUD).

Play area: It is an area of nearly 1,200m ² intended for the leisure of boys and girls, with a large space lined with rubber that bends and undulates, that plays with different heights and with spaces intended for different ages that from 0 to 12 years.

Rambla dels Encants : A large rambla for strolling and resting that runs through the park following Carrer Cartagena between Consell de Cent and Diagonal.

Area for dogs : The new Glòries park also has an area dedicated to dogs, where they can play and enjoy a space designed especially for them.

Espai Joventut : It is an area dedicated to young people, who will be able to play various sports games in a large multipurpose area.

In addition to these areas, the first phase of the Glòries park also has a house for the gardeners who take charge of the management of this green area, the largest phreatic water storage tank in the city, a temporary nursery that houses several trees that will be planted in the next phases of the park, and two pubs with bar service.
