This is one of the four beaches created in front of the coast of the Poblenou neighborhood during the remodeling carried out for the 1992 Olympic Games. On its western side it is limited by the Gregal pier of the Port Olímpic, where a considerable number of bars and restaurants are concentrated. There is also the Municipal Sailing Center, where courses are given. Towards the interior there is a landscaped promenade with a bicycle lane that leads to the Vila Olímpica neighborhood. In the eastern area a breakwater separates it from Bogatell beach.
It has all kinds of beach services and a good number of leisure facilities (ping pong tables, volleyball court, children's play area, etc.). It is 400 meters long and has an average width of 60. It also has, in the summer season, an area for people with reduced mobility attended by volunteers where ramps are offered to reach the water, a shower with chair, an adapted changing room, a lifting crane and an amphibious chair for bathing. Like the other beaches in the city, it has a high level of occupancy in the summer.
