Next Step are reusable bags made from recycled materials.
Although they are intended for bulk purchase of fruits and vegetables, rice, pulses, pasta and flours can be used for any purpose.
The cotton used in Next Step bags is recovered from the pre-consumer scraps that are usually discarded in textile factories. In order to take advantage of these fibers - which are shorter, and make them resistant, they are mixed with polyester. This comes from post-consumer sources mainly from recycled PET bottles.
By using recycled materials we avoid extracting more resources from the planet, we take advantage of the waste of others - preventing them from ending up incinerated or in a landfill - and we reduce the use of water and energy necessary for its production. By recycling polyester we reduce our dependence on oil and by reusing textile waste we save a lot of energy and water, farmland is preserved and CO2 emissions are much lower than those of conventional production.
The dyes of the bags are certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (indicating that they do not contain substances harmful to health or pollutants and guaranteeing social criteria), the yarns are certified Global Recycled Standard and the fabrics have been certified as free of Bisphenol A (BPA).
The packaging of the bags is as small as possible to generate the minimum waste. And we use paper made from recycled cotton, which is also compostable.
