
This garden is dedicated to Francesc Masclans i Girvès (1905-2000) who worked as a teacher for 40 years. As a botanist, he was the author of the Guide to getting to know trees (1958), the Guide to getting to know shrubs and lianas (1963) and The vulgar names of plants in Catalan lands (1954) ), manuals with which many hikers have learned to recognize the plant species they find on the mountain. In 1995 he was awarded the Cross of Sant Jordi.
The tree vegetation is represented by poplars (
Populus nigra ), poplars (
Populus alba ), dogwoods (Celtis australis), bottle tree (
Brachychiton populneus ), Callery pear (Pyrus calleryana 'Chanticleer'), red plum (
Prunus cerasifera 'Pissardii' ), bitter orange (
Citrus × aurantium ), Himalayan cedars (
Cedrus deodara ), cypresses (
Cupressus sempervirens ), magnolias (
Magnolia grandiflora ), negundos (
Acer negundo ), tipuana (
Tipuana tipu ), Australian pine (
Casuarina cunninghamiana ) ailant (
Ailanthus altissimus ) and Washingtonia of California (
Washingtonia filifera ).
The children's area has a continuous rubber floor that is combined with areas of sand and compacted sand. Among the games there is a multi-game structure in the shape of a sailing ship, designed for children between 3 and 12 years old. There is also a swing with a circular base and a sand table, both for the same age groups as the previous one. Finally, the fixed and manual excavator is for boys and girls aged 3 to 9.
