Mescladís has the mission of promoting meeting and mutual enrichment while facilitating the social and labor insertion of women and young immigrants.
Objective 1: Promote meeting and mutual enrichment
The immigrant-citizen relationship is one of the fundamental conditions for the success or failure of an immigration management policy. It is essential to create meeting spaces that eliminate prejudices and fears. From Mescladís we propose to facilitate the knowledge and meeting of the different cultures present in our city.
The activities that take place in Mescladís generate a space for expression, on a level of equality, which helps to create an integrative climate based on respect and mutual enrichment. Through our activities we aim to strengthen knowledge and trust between citizens and the immigrant population. And we do it with "hands on the dough", from a place as close and familiar to all as the kitchen, sharing our stories and our experiences around a good food table.
Our Mescladís neighborhood space is a small contribution in this direction.
Objective 2: Facilitate social and labor insertion
At Mescladís we understand that our activity cannot be limited to cultural aspects. There is no doubt that meeting and getting to know different cultures is crucial to consolidating social cohesion in our neighborhoods, but true integration has an economic nature that we cannot and must not avoid. It is the conditions of exploitation and injustice that push people to immigrate. These conditions occur both at the North-South relationship level, at the level of international trade rules that harm developing countries, and at the conditions of social injustice both in their countries of origin and in the countries of destination of immigrants, where they usually work in highly precarious conditions, with miserable wages, without their abilities and studies being recognized, with enormous difficulties in accessing housing. Based on this premise, we have developed a solidarity economy model that completes and strengthens our proposal. Our goal is to launch projects that generate quality employment, that promote equal opportunities and income parity between men / women and citizens / immigrants.
Mescladís: a non-profit and self-sustainable social project.
From Mescladís we defend a responsible, committed and sustainable business culture. Mescladís as an organization proposes a spirit of solidarity with the destiny of our community and its workers, and creates an occupation that dignifies and promotes personal development.
In its almost 10 years of operation, Mescladís has consolidated itself as an economic and social institution at the same time and an incipient benchmark in gastronomy and diversity. Three indicators prove this: the project is already self-sustaining, has the recognition of social and academic organizations and has had excellent acceptance by the neighbors and users of our services.
Cuinant Opportunities: for the social and personal development of people at risk.
The axis of our growth will be through our project Cooking Opportunities. Through this initiative we promote the professional development of people at risk of social exclusion. They will be the future members of our work teams and will guarantee the continuity and growth of our Mixed Project. Likewise, FCM will guarantee job placement based on agreements signed with companies in the hospitality sector.
