In a corner of the heart of Barcelona's Eixample, on the corner between Passatge Mercader and Carrer Mallorca, stands the modernist building that houses El Mercader de l'Eixample, a restaurant serving traditional Catalan cuisine and, at the same time, ecological and km 0 from Barcelona that is committed to product, ecological and local cuisine.
At El Mercader de l'Eixample we prioritize products that come from nearby and organic farming, use seasonal foods, avoid the use of GMOs, recover products from the Ark of Taste and the Bastions of Slow Food and cook sustainably caught fish.
El Mercader de l'Eixample was one of the restaurants awarded in the first edition of the Remenja'mmm Award (2018) for its work in promoting sustainable and healthy eating and reducing food waste.
