Mission, objectives and vision
CREAF is a public research center dedicated to terrestrial ecology, territorial analysis and global change, which pursues excellence in the production and dissemination of knowledge, as well as innovation, development and transfer. of methodologies.
Mission
The center wants to contribute to the knowledge on conservation and management of the environment and the territory, in addition to the adaptation to the environmental change on local, regional and global scale. With this, it seeks to be a bridge between academia, administrations and society, and to promote awareness within its field of action.
Targets
- Carry out basic research of excellence, innovative and leading, which can be considered a national and international benchmark.
- Promote applied research, especially in the field of forestry, that contributes to the sustainable management and conservation of resources and ecosystems.
- Develop conceptual and methodological tools to facilitate decision-making and improve environmental management.
- Disseminate all this scientific and technological knowledge through training, advice and dissemination activities.
Vision
- To carry out research and development of excellence that allow to increase the knowledge of the natural systems and that are applicable to the improvement of the conservation and management of the natural environment and the territory.
- Achieve CREAF leadership at the state level and achieve growing international recognition.
- Position CREAF as a center of reference in terrestrial ecology, land analysis and global change in the Mediterranean basin.
- Expand the synergies between scientific research and technological development to address the needs of environmental management and spatial planning of administrations and the private sector.
- To be a center less and less dependent on the political situation, with an efficient management and a high capacity to obtain resources, maintaining the financial balance.
- Be made up of staff who share the centre's mission and are an active part in fulfilling the vision, with a flexible organization that encourages the collaboration and permeability of research groups.
- To be more visible among the scientific community, administrations and society in general to have more weight in the debate and decision-making on environmental issues.
