The sustainable house 'TO' is a prototype of sustainable housing presented by the School of Architecture of the Vallès (ETSAV) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) at the fourth edition of the Solar Decathlon Europe (SDE19) held at July 2019.

“TO: the sustainable home” is a demonstration of energy-efficient and sustainable habits and solutions in the home.

The prototype was presented at the 2019 edition of the Solar Decathlon Europe international competition, in which university students design and build efficient buildings that use renewable energy, and that take into account accessibility, resilience and health. The TO won several awards at the 2019 Solar Decathlon, which was held in Hungary. After the competition, the TO was disassembled, moved and reassembled on the Besòs campus of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, where it can be visited.

The TO is designed so that users can experience first-hand how adapting their habits can save energy and resources. It has, therefore, an experiential character, in which users can learn solutions that they can then apply at home.

For this reason, Barcelona City Council, together with the UPC, assessed the possibility of returning the equipment to the city, to use it as demonstration equipment for all citizens.
