Project commissioned by LaCaixa and executed and maintained by Bailon.
It has a maximum height of 12 meters and a maximum width of 50 meters. It consists of a self-supporting metal structure composed of 45 tons of galvanized steel, 22 vertical portals formed by tubular profiles of 140×140 mm, distributed in 4 levels of height of 2.5 meters each.
The mixed vegetated facade area covers 535 m² and includes different elements
- 450 m² of hydroponic modules with rockwool substrate, which allows a wide variety of plants to be grown.
- a metal mesh with 85 m² of climbing plants
- 15 large trees of 9 suspended species
In total, around 22,000 plants are used, including 7 species of climbing plants, 13 hanging species and 20 shrub species.
The drip irrigation system has 11 irrigation sectors and 500 linear meters of pipe, 2 pumps for recirculation and fertigation.
For water self-sufficiency, 13 storage tanks of 2000 liters each are used, with irrigation autonomy of up to 15 days, and even 7 days during the driest months.
In addition, the Bosc Vertical Caixaforum project contemplates the restoration of 360 m² of facade surface, returning beauty and functionality to the structure and promoting sustainability and the presence of nature in urban environments.
