APCE is the most representative institution in the housing development sector and an essential reference for Catalan business. The Association of Barcelona Developers was born on February 28, 1968. It currently has more than 500 associated real estate groups representing more than 1,000 companies. Throughout this more than half a century of existence, it remains faithful to the principles on which it was founded: independence from public authorities, without profit, and with the aim of looking after the interests of associated companies. Evidently, progress has been made to meet the needs of the social, legislative and economic changes of these decades in the same way as the country has done, having today a solid, efficient and modern organizational structure. For this reason, in 2016 it wanted to take a step further, abandoning its provincial scope of action to become the Association of Promoters of Catalonia, expanding this territorial and functional scope to the entire Catalan territory. In practice, this modification means that the provincial associations of promoters, without losing their territorial personality, are framed within the Associació de Promotors de Catalunya, on which falls all the sectoral representation vis-à-vis administrations, bodies and autonomous institutions. This transformation must be used to advance with better tools towards a new social reality in a more inclusive way, combining the role of service managers for companies with the reflective exhibition of knowledge aimed at placing companies in the best possible conditions contributing to the enhancement of a sustainable economic activity in terms of construction and housing, while enhancing professional quality.
