The Associació Catalana “La Llar” de l’Afectat d’Esclerosi Múltiple is an entity formed by people affected by this chronic disease and other diseases of a neurodegenerative nature.
In 1987 a small group of people suffering from a disease of this nature, created in the district of Sants-Montjuïc in Barcelona, the Territorial Delegation of the Spanish Association of Multiple Sclerosis in Catalonia with the aim of, improve the quality of life of those affected by multiple sclerosis and similar diseases.
Later, in 1992, it was set up as a “LA LLAR” Association , non-profit and with its own statutes.
A rational, creative and intuitive planning process was carried out where they thought they would be used. They carried out a strategic analysis, an analysis of the environment, an internal analysis and a SWOT analysis to put the entity into operation, bearing in mind that there could be different changes in society that would force them to adapt.
From its beginnings until now, despite the fact that the disease has often wanted to prevent it, the organization has worked daily on the problems that multiple sclerosis and neurodegenerative diseases entail, not being at all easy.
The entity was born with the aim of addressing an existing need at the time, the lack of resources where people with a neurodegenerative disease could go and receive various benefits to cover different needs they suffered as a result of the disease.
According to the statutes, the entity may never pursue a lucrative purpose.
Improving the quality of life of those affected by multiple sclerosis and similar neurodegenerative diseases and that of their relatives, was and is the priority, a broad goal that has the purpose of being able to work on different aspects such as physical rehabilitation, the emotional part and the social integration of the patient.
In recognition of her entire career, in 1993 she was declared of public utility by the Ministry of the Interior and, in 2007, she received the medal of honor from the city of Barcelona.

In our organization we offer different direct and indirect care services that respond to the needs that our users pose to us. Thus, we have social and psychological support, physiotherapy service, chiromassage, home care, etc. We carry out work that provides a comprehensive response to the needs raised by avoiding the inequalities inherent in the development of a degenerative disease.

We are a point of attention of the Banc del Moviment and you can donate a support product for people with reduced mobility to our facilities.
