ASCEN, Catalan Association of Cleaning Companies, was born in 1977, with the beginning of democracy in Spain, on the initiative of a few entrepreneurs in the sector, under the name of ASIEL (Associación Independiente de Empresarios de Limpieza ). In 1990 it merged with ACEN (Associació Catalana d'Empreses de Neteja), established at the same time as ASIEL, and this became the only representative association of the entire sector in Catalonia. In 1991, ASIEL changed its name and became ASCEL (Asociación Catalana de Empresarios de Limpieza). Finally, in 2001, the name was Catalanized and adopted the current name ASCEN (Associació Catalana d'Empreses de Neteja).
Currently, ASCEN is formed by approximately 200 associated companies, with a volume of more than 25,000 workers (approximately 45% of the total), and by thirty collaborating companies linked to the sector: suppliers of machinery, products, utensils cleaning and services to companies.
They have a training center with an area of more than 700 m2, equipped with three theory classrooms, a computer classroom and an enviable practice classroom. In addition, they have different meeting rooms, an event hall, administrative offices and a library under construction.
