It lies on the border area between Barcelona and Sant Adria del Besos, enters which hosted the Universal Forum of Cultures 2004. The main room is a large open area, Plaza Forum, designed by Elies Torres and José Tur Antonio Martinez Lapeña, chaired by a solar panel, one of the most iconic venue. The set includes call park Auditorium of 5.2 ha, Alejandro Zaera: The name comes from two auditoriums designed outdoor bleachers for events with high attendance. The space between the two auditoriums consists of a series of dunes that combine vegetables with spaces paving slabs shaped crescent. Next to the park is the swimming area of 2 ha, designed by Beth Galí and Jaume Benavent, a beach without sand that gives access via steps and ramps to the shore, bounded sticks to form a secure environment, a kind of pool. This area is protected from waves by a breakwater, which in turn forms an artificial island called Pangea.
Beyond the Forum building esplanade between the Forum and the sea lies the Auditorium Park.
Five artificial dunes are covered with vegetation and largely also by the concrete pieces shaped crescent of pink tones that paved paths of the park, which creates a very ornamental continuity between the space plan and what it does do.
Different areas of the Auditorium Park diagonals are connected by ramps, inspired conveyors airports, allowing a smooth transition between levels.
Despite its size, the two auditoriums remain hidden among the dunes. In them. We must get there to see them. They were designed to accommodate most of the performances of Forum Barcelona 2004.
If you enter the park from the Plaza Forum in entering them find a stand that climbs the slope to the left. Is Mar Auditorium, with capacity for 3,500 people. Just the other end of the park also opened a vast esplanade where rises a stand. Is Grand Auditorium, with capacity for 8,500 people.
Behind the Grand Auditorium of the end nearest the sea rises a symbol of Forum Barcelona 2004: the enormous photovoltaic pergola of 4000 m2, consisting of 2,688 solar panels.
A swimming sea
The Auditorium Park pedestrians enter the bathing area, an area of two hectares. It is a new concept of beach, without sand, sort of swimming at sea level-in fact, this water-supplied, with two shallow areas controlled. It is accessed via stairs and ramps. To protect the swimming area of the surge was built on the island of Pangea. It is located 60 meters from the coast and can be reached by swimming. During the bathing season from May to October, this beach offers various services, such as shaded loungers, lockers, changing rooms, showers, information office, shop, restaurant and rental canoes and kayaks.
The vegetation consists mainly reed (Arundo donax), grasses (hyperemia sp. And nassella tenuissima, among others) and prairie hidden behind dunes, climb on their backs for. As for the trees, are the most abundant mulberry (Morus alba and Morus alba 'fruitless') and Grevillea robusta. There are several examples of Indian laurel (Ficus nitida).
Park Auditorium is part of the reorganization of the urban coastline Besos, located at the mouth of the river, which was held on the occasion of the World Forum of Cultures Barcelona 2004. This event had as main objective reflection and dialogue on cultural diversity, sustainable development and peace. The new development was allowed to recover a large expanse of coastline located between the municipalities of Barcelona and Sant Adria de Besos.
